Iranian President Hassan Rouhani said that a return was possible to multilateral talks established at the time of the 2015 nuclear deal, that would include the U.S. as part of a group of six major powers known as the P5+1.
"The ministers had discussions within the framework of the P4+1, and preparations for the P5+1 meeting were made, which had been agreed upon by all parties," Rouhani's official website cited him as saying.
"The framework of the meeting was agreed upon by the seven countries and I believe it was an important step," he added.
Rouhani said he would reveal more details at a cabinet meeting on October 2.
